Hi Dolls! Happy Friday! Glad to see you back here for a dose of stylespiration (style inspiration - think I just made that up, lol)
This outfit post features this pretty woven skirt from Forever 21 which was featured in my most recent Try-On Haul over on my YouTube Channel. But more importantly, this outfit post features my Dad's pretty awesome blazer that now belongs to me.
So, women rocking menswear is a style trend that has become very popular in the last few years. So much so that brands have very much taken to creating womens fashion in the style of menswear hence we have the 'boyfriend jeans', the 'boyfriend blazer' and the 'boyfriend jumper' etc.
The oversized blazer or the boyfriend blazer is not a completely new look. Believe it or not our mothers and aunties were rocking this style long before us. I've seen loads of old pictures of my mum when she was about my age, rocking a lot of the same styles we rock now. A lot has gone and come back around. This style trend is one I'm glad to see come back.
I've seen a lot of people on social media styling their boyfriend/oversized blazers in different ways that I admired so I thought I'd create my own look with one of my dad's blazers.
Now, although they make blazers such as this for women, I personally feel like, if you're going for the boyfriend blazer look, nothing will do the trick quite like an actual mens blazer. I did consider using one of my mums blazers as she is a couple sizes bigger than me but it just didn't have the flare I was looking for.
Now I don't know about you, but I feel like this blazer looks bomb on the female body. It's giving me all kinds of shoulder pad life and I just love that there are so many different ways I could've gone in creating this outfit- I love how versatile this blazer can be. I've gone for a more classier feel with this look, but pair it with your favourite pair of jeans and you'll look casual chic in every way possible. Or wear it on its own as a mini blazer dress for a sultry but sophisticated look. We love options!
I was going to shoutout my Dad for having such good taste but I'm only about 150% sure that he did not buy this himself lol.
